South County League Board of Governors Meeting

Via Zoom

April 5, 2022

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 am by Pres. Jay Levine.

Roll call was taken and all the clubs were present except Boca Lago and Hunters Run.

       .

President’s agenda:

It seems that all schedule changes have been accomplished.

Most clubs are back to two people in a cart. Remember that this year, we will be riding with our team mate. If a player requests a single cart for medical reasons, hopefully, the clubs will accommodate.

We may be faced with more restrictions relative to alternates due to more people staying during the summer.

Clubs need to provide a basic breakfast and a lunch.

Broken Sound will have golf at the Club Course and lunch at the Old Course due to construction. Delaire will be using a food truck.

It was clarified that front tee players would be those with an index of 15.9 and higher.

Make sure that pro shops and maintenance staff know that our new yardage guidelines are between 5,800 yards  and 6,100 yards for matches played from the back tees and between 5,300 yards and 5,500 yards for matches played from the forward tees.

Remember that we now have an accelerated schedule prior to a match. By 5 P.M. of the Thursday preceding play, the visiting club contacts the host club to determine how many players the visiting club may bring to the match. The visiting club then sends its roster to the host club no later than 5 P.M. on Friday. Host clubs are required to send a fully completed score sheet to the visiting club no later than 5 P.M. on Saturday.

We will be using the indexes from the Friday before the match and 90% handicap which is built into the score sheet. If anyone has any questions about setting up the score sheet, contact Larry Stone.

Our charge for away matches is $50. Be aware that some clubs will not accept cash.

It appears that we don’t have an official smoking policy. Be considerate.

The league has a policy that the local rule allowing a two stroke penalty and dropping on the fairway will be used in all matches. Jay stated that you can not take that option if you have hit a provisional shot.

Manny Newman reminded everyone that the time limit looking for a ball is three minutes.

Jay said that due to circumstances, we may have to loosen the 22 player rule as it applies to alternates. We will see how it goes and reevaluate.

The second half of the season will start on June 15.

Larry Stone said that due to the construction, our Broken Sound matches will only be 17 holes.

Larry Gangel informed the governors that Len Kerker is seriously ill. Manny Newman informed the group that Rich North had died suddenly. Many expressed their sadness.

The next meeting will be on May 10 at Stonebridge.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 9:07 am.

Respectfully submitted,

Larry Stone

Secretary
